Dundas Minnesota
driver Donny Reuvers claimed his fourth consecutive
Elko Speedway Super Late Model Track Championship
Saturday night by scoring top finishes in both
40 lap NASCAR All-American Series events. It wasn't
easy as Reuvers battled 22 other SLM drivers in
a night of racing where multiple crashes and red
flag conditions prevailed.
"It
helped to start on the front row in the first
feature" said Reuvers in a post race interview,
"because things always get a little wild
on the last night of racing for points. We had
some moments out there but finishing second in
the first race meant all we had to do in the second
was stay out of trouble and finish strong (6th)
which we did. This crew of mine really deserves
all the credit along with my great sponsors Burnsville
Toyota, Greenside Landscape Design and Construction,
Murgic's Racing Engines, Reuvers Farms and George's
Vineyard. Without that sponsorship help and my
all volunteer crew we couldn't have won our 4th
title here at Elko".
The only
other driver in Elko history to win four or more
consecutive SLM titles is Jeff Martin who won
five. Reuvers plans to return in 2009 and attempt
to match Martin's five year in a row feat.
